Summer internships in India are short. We had 3 interns for the summer which really was just about a month (mid-June to mid-July). Nonetheless, a lot was accomplished and learnt. For all three of them college starts on Monday, 13th July. On the eve of their departure, we decide to interview them on their experience and gather feedback for the next batch. Here’s what they had to say…
After screening ~100 internship applications and interviewing ~30 teenage candidates over a period of 3 weeks, I admitted to Anuj that my initial process and expectations of hiring interns was a blunder. In addition to my admission, we both were having second thoughts on whether we would have the time and patience to sow a strong internship program and reap its benefits. It has been less than a year since we reinitiated Tacto, and although at the start of the month Tacto was 11 people strong, we had no middle management and hardly any excess capacity within the team.
Just before sending out the offers, we took a moment to contemplate on our motivations, selection process and expected outcomes. Here’s a rudimentary summation. The “Send” button was eventually pressed.
Sexy has gone missing again and we need it back for our next mobile & web app. Tracking down Sexy has becoming an overwhelming challenge and definitely not the burden for one. We recently got Samrudhii to help us with creating a blueprint to track Sexy’s whereabouts. We now need a kindred soul to identify Sexy’s exact coordinates so our rapid-action Tech team can chase it down.
